PS Omollo Unleashes His Bloggers to Undermine Luo Leaders

In a continued effort to undermine the leadership of Luo elected officials, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has resorted to mobilizing a team of bloggers to smear local leaders in bad light. This comes after his previous attempts to discredit Governor Gladys Wanga through a series of protests branded as 'Wanga Must Go' in Kisumu and Migori, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.

The group of bloggers, some of whom are reportedly on Omollo's payroll, have taken on a coordinated campaign to criticize Members of Parliament and governors from the Nyanza region, accusing them of inadequate performance in their roles. They have been particularly vocal in drawing unfavourable comparisons with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, showcasing images of the improved secondary education facilities in his constituency and highlighting his pledge to lower day secondary school fees to Ksh 500. In stark contrast, these bloggers have been deploying an undated image of a dilapidated mud-walled school, arbitrarily associating it with various constituencies to target specific leaders based on their political alliances.

This onslaught has been particularly directed at pro-government figures such as MPs Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga), and Jared Okelo (Nyando), raising eyebrows among observers. Many are left to wonder why Omollo, a public servant aligned with President William Ruto's administration, would engage in efforts to undermine leaders who appear sympathetic to his boss. The ongoing campaign reflects deeper underlying political currents within the Luo community and raises questions about loyalty and the dynamics of support within the government.

It is important to note that Raymond Omolo operates independently and consistently challenges his counterparts within the UDA from Luo Nyanza. It is quite rare for him to attend events alongside Eliud Owalo or Dr Evans Kidero. He has marginalized these leaders and even outmaneuvered their allies in the UDA elections in Luo Nyanza. He is indeed his grandfather's grandson, Omolo Agar, who mastered the art of betrayal during his time in KANU, which culminated in Jaramogi Oginga Odinga bolting out of the Independence party. It remains to be seen whether the younger Omolo will emerge victorious in his struggle against the elected leaders from Luo Nyanza.
