In a candid TV interview on Tuesday evening, Winnie Odinga, a member of the East Africa Legislative Assembly and daughter of the late Raila Odinga, appeared to change her stance regarding her ongoing leadership conflict with her uncle, Oburu Oginga, over the ODM Party.

When asked why she had previously seemed unsettled about her uncle succeeding her late father, Winnie stated, "My uncle has lived a life of determination, strength, and loyalty. I would be the last person to allow his legacy to be tarnished by political infighting, especially at his age of 82." She continued, "What some may see as antagonism is actually my way of protection, and we are very pleased to see him in this position. He is certainly the best person to lead the party."

It is worth noting that during the ODM@20 event in Mombasa last November, Winnie publicly questioned the party's choice of Dr. Oburu, expressing doubts about her uncle's ability to lead the Orange party. This stance quickly escalated into a family feud, with Raila's children, aided by Senator Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino, on one side, and Oburu and the party leadership on the other.

"I love him—he's like my only dad. I don't understand why this has become national news," Winnie said, seeking to resolve the family's misunderstandings.
